Street atmosphere that makes one feel like you are in a time slip to the Edo Period

Takehara is called "Little Kyoto of Aki" due to its history from the Heian Period long ago, when it flourished as a manor of Kyoto Shimogamo Shrine.

Especially in the upper city and lower city, the mansions that flourished during salt production and brewing industry in the late Edo period, and its historic temples and streets, have been preserved even until today.

Today, gray ribbed seam roofs, East Asian hip-and-gable tiled roofs, plastered walls, deep reddish yellow lattice windows, etc remain everywhere. If you walk the alley, it gives you a feeling from a calm, tranquil era, which softens the hearts of people.
